Goooood Mooooorning Mu-nich!

A chronicle of the World Cup from someone completely unfamiliar with the game of soccer. I used to play, but I didn't even like it then. I am officially rooting for the Netherlands.

Euro 2008 qualifier report

Euro 2008 qualifier round results:

Czech Rep 2 - 1 Wales
England 5 - 0 Andorra
Germany 1 - 0 Rep of Ireland
Holland 1 - 0 Luxembourg
Northern Ireland 0 - 3 Iceland
Finland 3 - 1 Poland

Lukas Podolski totally scored for Germany. *licks Lukas* It's dampened slighly being against Ireland, but... we're from Northern Ireland anyway... ;)

This is by no means all the teams that played, simply the ones I had interest in.

this has spiraled away from its original purpose, like my life

This blog will slowly become more about the regular club football, with sporatic updates about national squads in friendlies and lineups.

John Terry is fucking England captain. Do you know how good that sounds? I don't really mind Steven Gerrard, but I don't think he can be impartial. John Terry is world class, let's not fuck around.

I have been watching a lot of rugby. That might slow the soccer updates.

Chelsea aren't off to a good start, I think. I thought the whole MLS thing would turn out better than it did.

Ajax.... I don't know how they're doing. I think it's only pretty average, though.

Bayern Munich.... I was told they were poised to take another trophy in the Bundesliga. I hope this is true.

Werder Bremen... they got Per Mertesaker. Too bad I think he's currently injured. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I don't know much about ManU or Arsenal, but ManU looked strong in the Amersterdam tournament, aside from that whole Rooney/red card thing. I think the World Cup has unfairly labeled him as a troublemaker. Know thy enemies.

good news for England, who need some

OH YES THERE IS A GOD!

England names John Terry as Captain
. (Steven Gerrard = vice-captain)

I would have preferred Frank Lampard as vice-captain, just like it is at Chelsea, but he didn't have a spectacular World Cup towards the end and I understand.

football PWNS me

Ajax finished dead last in the Amsterdam Tournament. But Wesley Sneijder looked good, scoring the equalizing goal against Inter.

Johnny Heitinga, for as much as I love him (and I do), could have been a little more cautious and made his goal against ManU count. Because it was beautiful.

Also, MLS beats Premireship champions Chelsea FC. You could see how pissed off they all were. I can't imagine what abuse they're going to suffer at the hands of Jose. I was originally rooting for the MLS, because I didn't want US soccer to embarass itself, but they turned around and won. I was happy at first, but now it will just make Chelsea look bad. People won't think MORE of MLS, they'll just think LESS of Chelsea. Fuck. Lose lose.

But my favorite players are still getting into compromising positions, and ESPN showed a lot of John Terry during the game coverage. I would have liked a little more Frank Lampard, but we can't always get what we want.

Now, video time:
Frank Lampard and John Terry (vice captain and captain) of Chelsea FC kissing on the celebration bus after Chelsea won the EPL.

There has been a lack of updates to this blog, because... the World Cup has ended. Yeah. That tends to slow news.

I am very disappionted that the Italians won. I thought I wouldn't really care, because come on it was France v Italy, but now... they are fuckers and I hope the earth swallows them up at their celebration. They cheated to get where they were, and they will continue to blatantly cheat.

Plus, the French need to win something sometime.

I miss the Dutch, but I love the threats being held against Cristiano Ronaldo. Cheating little fucker. The only reason I don't have a voodoo doll of him is that he's fucking gorgeous. And I will always let that impare my judgement.

But my love and pride of Germany is EXPLODING. There are fantastic, and I love them all, especially Miro Klose, Podolski, Schweinsteiger, and Lehmann.

The German half of me was cheering and screaming, the Irish half was rooting against England.

and people wonder why I watch football

This is why football is great. The players are not afraid to cry after a game, and they kiss each other. Sometimes on the mouth.

This is Alan Smith and... someone.

Frank Lampard CAN score goals, but it's not his JOB to score goals. Therein lies the problem.

If all you've got left are Lampard and Gerrard, you're not going to get the power you need. Crouch? I'm beginning to find him increasinly adorable, but that doesn't win you games.

Under the circumstances, push Lampard up with Crouch, and a defender up with Gerrard, and not play such a defensive game. Go on the attack for once.

Yes, I am now accepting bids from all countries to manage their squads for Euro 2008 and/or (yeah diction errors!) WC 2010 South Africa.
